Delicious and flavourful dal straight from the Gurudwara Langar.LANGAR KI DALIngredients¾ cup whole black gram (sabut urad), soaked and drained½ cup chana dal, soaked and drainedSalt to taste1½ tsps turmeric powder2 tbsps ghee2 tsps cumin seeds1 inch ginger, finely chopped3 small onions, finely chopped2 green chillies, slit2 medium tomatoes, chopped½ cup freshly chopped coriander leaves½ tsp turmeric powder2 tsps coriander powder1 tsp red chilli powder2 tsps garam masala powderCoriander sprig for garnishMethod1. Add whole black gram, chana dal, salt, 1 tsp turmeric powder, 5 cups water, mix well. Cover and cook till the pressure is released for 4-5 whistles.2. Heat ghee in a non-stick pan, add cumin seeds and sauté till they begin to change colour. Add ginger, onions and sauté till golden brown in colour.3. Add green chillies, tomato, salt and cook till tomato are pulpy.4. Add ¼ cup chopped coriander, remaining turmeric powder, coriander powder and chilli powder, sauté for 2-3 minutes. 5. Add cooked dal and mix well. Add garam masala powder and simmer for 5-10 minutes. Add remaining coriander, mix well.6.
