The name has it all! A wholesome fish curry made with the spicy Mangalorean flavours!

MANGLOREAN FISH CURRY

Ingredients

2 medium pomfrets, cleaned and cut into darnes
1 cup Kings Cook Smart Onion
7-8 dried red chillies, stemmed
½ up scraped coconut
4-5 garlic cloves
½ tsp cumin seeds
2 tsps coriander seeds
15-20 black peppercorns
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsps oil
2-3 curry leaf sprigs
Salt to taste
1 tbsp tamarind pulp
Coriander sprig for garnish

Method

1. Transfer Kings Cook Smart Onion in a blender jar. Add dried red chillies, coconut, garlic, cumin seeds, coriander seeds black peppercorns and mustard seeds.
2. Add 1 cup water and grind to fine paste.
3. Transfer the remaining Kings Cook Smart Onion in a bowl. Add ¼ cup hot water and set aside for 3-4 minutes.
4. Heat oil in earthenware pot. Add curry leaves and sauté for a few seconds. Add the hydrated onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add the prepared paste, 2 cups water and mix well. Add salt and mix. Add fish pieces and mix gently.
6. Cover and cook on medium heat for 3-4 minutes. Add tamarind pulp and mix well. Cover and cook for 5-6 minutes more.
7. Transfer into a serving bowl. Garnish with coriander sprig and serve hot .
