Topped with chilled drinking soda to make it fizzy and exciting!MASALA JEERUIngredients¼ cup cumin seeds (jeera)10-12 black peppercorns, coarsely crushed3-4 cloves¾ cup + 1 tsp sugar½ inch ginger, roughly choppedBlack salt to tasteSalt to taste¼ tsp + 4 pinches of chaat masalaA pinch of red chilli powder2 lemon wedges2 small lemonsIce cubes as requiredDrinking soda as requiredMethod1. Heat a nonstick pan. Add cumin seeds and roast on medium heat till they turn dark brown.2. Remove 1 tbsp cumin seeds and add black peppercorns, cloves and roast for a minute.3. Add ¾ cup sugar, 1 cup water, ginger and cook till sugar melts and the mixture thickens.4. Transfer the roasted cumin seeds in a mortar. Add black salt, salt, ¼ tsp chaat masala, red chilli powder and remaining sugar and crush coarsely.5. Strain the prepared jeera syrup.6. Apply lemon on the rim of the glass and press onto the prepared spice mix.7. Add a portion of the prepared syrup in each glass. Add black salt, salt and a pinch of chaat masala in each glass. Squeeze ½ lemon in each glass. Mix well.8. Add ice and top up with the soda and stir.9.
