Masoor Dal Soup | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

A delicious and flavourful soup made with veggies and masoor dal.

MASOOR DAL SOUP

Ingredients

1 cup Tata Sampann Masoor Whole
½ tbsp oil
1 medium onion, chopped
¾ cup chopped pumpkin
1 medium carrot, chopped
1 medium tomato, chopped
½ tbsp finely chopped garlic
4-5 coriander roots, washed
Salt to taste
1½ tbsps butter
Burnt garlic for garnish
Chives for garnish

Method

1. Add Tata Sampann Masoor Whole in a bowl and add sufficient water. Soak for 20-25 minutes.
2. Heat oil in a non-stick pressure cooker, add onion, pumpkin, carrot, tomato, and garlic. Mix well and cook for 1-2 minutes.
3. Break coriander roots and add to the cooker. Add soaked dal and mix well.
4. Add salt, and mix well. Add 3 cups water and mix well. Place the lid on and cook till 4-5 whistles are released.
5. Allow the pressure to settle completely. Blend the mixture using an electric hand blender till smooth.
6. Add butter and mix well. Strain the soup into another pan, adjust seasoning and transfer to a serving bowl.
7. Garnish with burnt garlic and chives. Serve hot.
