Fish slices marinated with spicy masala and cooked till perfection.

MEEN VARTADU

Ingredients

8 medium king fish (surmai) darnes
3 tbsps Kashmiri red chilli powder
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
2 garlic cloves, coarsely crushed
2-3 tsps coconut oil
Onion rings to serve
Lemon wedges to serve

Method

1. In a bowl, add Kashmiri red chilli powder, crushed black peppercorns, turmeric powder, salt to taste, coarsely crushed garlic clove, and add a little water to make a paste of coating consistency.
2. Apply the marination on the fish pieces on both sides and keep aside for 10 – 15 minutes.
3. Heat oil in a non-stick tawa, let it heat up well. Place the marinated fish pieces on it, cover and cook 1-2 minutes on low flame.
4. Increase the flame and let it cook till the base turns golden brown. Flip the fish pieces, cover and cook for 1-2 minutes on low flame.
5. Increase the flame and remove the lid. Let it cook for 1 minute or till the base turns golden brown. Take them off the heat.
6. Serve along with onion rings and lemon wedges.
