French beans cooked with split skinless green gram with mild spices.MOONG BEANSIngredients1½ cups split skinless green gram (dhuli moong dal), soaked for 2 hours and drained250 gms French beans, cut into 1 inch pieces1 tbsp oil1 tsp mustard seeds1 tsp cumin seeds1 medium onion¼ tsp turmeric powderSalt to taste½ inch ginger, cut into small pieces2-3 green chillies 1 tsp lemon juice½ tsp garam masala powderThin strips of ginger, for garnishingFresh coriander sprig for garnishingMethod1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let them splutter. 2. Slice onion and add to the pan and sauté till onion turns translucent. 3. Add split green gram and mix well. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes.4. Add turmeric powder and salt and mix well. Add 2 tbsps water and mix well. Cover and cook for 2-3 minutes. Add French beans and mix well. Add ginger pieces. Cover and continue to cook for a minute. 5. Roughly chop green chillies and add to the pan. Add 2-3 tbsps water. Cover and cook on low heat till the green gram and beans are done. 6. Uncover the pan, add lemon juice and garam masala powder and mix well. 7. Transfer into a serving platter, garnish with ginger strips and fresh coriander sprig and serve hot.
