MOONG MOOSHUR DAAL

Ingredients

¼ cup split, skinless yellow moong dal, washed
¼ cup split, skinless pink masoor dal, washed
2 medium onions, peeled
4-5 garlic cloves
2 tsps oil
½ tsp cumin seeds
1 medium tomato
½ tsp turmeric powder
Salt to taste
½ tsp sugar
2 green chillies
Freshly chopped coriander for garnish

Method

1. Chop the onions and set aside.
2. Chop the garlic cloves and set aside.
3. Heatoil in a pressure cooker, add cumin seeds and sauté on low heat till it crackles. Add the chopped garlic and sauté for a minute. Add chopped onions and sautéon medium heat till golden brown in colour.
4. Chop the tomato and set aside.
5. Add tomato in pressure cooker and sauté on low heat till it turns pulpy. Add turmeric powder, salt and sugar in pan. Break green chillies and add in the pan.Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
6. Add moong dal and masoor dal in pressure cooker. Sauté on high heat for 2-3 minutes. Add salt and sufficient water. Mix well. Pressure cook on medium heattill 2-3 whistles are given.
7. Serve hot garnished with chopped coriander.
