Old Fashinoed Donughts | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This Old fashioned donuts recipe is a homage to when it was invented. The taste is delectable, making you want more of this delicacy! Whose in for a treat?

OLD FASHIONED DONUTS

Ingredients

300 grams refined flour (maida) + as required
120 grams castor sugar
3 egg yolks
15 grams butter
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
190 grams sour cream
7.5 grams baking powder
6 grams salt
Oil for deep-frying
½ cup melted white chocolate
½ cup melted dark chocolate

Method

1. Put castor sugar in a bowl. Add yolks, butter and vanilla essence and whisk using an electric beater till light. Add sour cream and whisk well.
2. Sieve together flour, baking powder and salt and fold till the dough is formed.
3. Line the worktop with a cling film, place the dough, lightly flatten and wrap it. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours.
4. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
5. Dust the worktop with some flour and roll out the dough into ½ inch thick sheet.
6. Coat a medium size cookie cutter with some flour and cut the sheet into roundels.
7. Cut the center of each roundel using a small cookie cutter to shape them into donuts.
8. Dust the excess flour from the donuts, put in hot oil and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper and slightly cool.
9. Dip one side of each donut in melted white chocolate and melted dark chocolate to make different patterns.
10. Serve.

Preparation Time: 2-3 hours
Cooking Time: 5-10 minutes
