The pineapple gives this recipe a lovely tangy twist as well as being great for digestion. Bromelain is an enzyme found in pineapple that is a great digestive aid.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup Split Pigeon Peas
1 cup Onion
1/2 ltr Water
1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
4-5 Green Chillies (slit)
1 tbsp Ginger (chopped)
1 cup Pineapples (chopped)
1 cup Water
Salt
1 1/2 cup Coconut Milk
1 tsp Sugar

For Tempering
2 tbsp Coconut Oil
10-15 Fenugreek Seeds
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/4 tsp Asafoetida
8-10 Curry Leaves
1/2 tsp Rasam Powder

1/4 cup Coconut (grated)
1/4 Coriander Leaves

Method: First put Split Pigeon Peas into the cooker with Onion, Water, Turmeric Powder, Asafoetida then cooks it in the pressure cooker till 3 to 4 whistles.
After cooking for 4 whistles in the cooker, switch off the gas and let it cool down. Now add Green Chillies (slit), Ginger (chopped), Pineapples (chopped), Water and Salt. Now let it boil for 5 to 10 minutes in open cooker then add Coconut Milk, Sugar and boil it again for 2 to 3 minutes in mild flame.
Now for Tempering let's add Coconut Oil, Fenugreek Seeds, Mustard Seeds, Asafoetida, Curry Leaves turn of the gas and add Rasam Powder now add this tempering on top of the Dal again we will heat up the dal on medium flame. To this add Coconut (grated), Coriander Leaves, boil it for few moments and then your Pineapple Dal is ready to be served.
