Pound Cake | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

This cake was traditionally made with a pound each of its four main ingredients that is flour, butter, eggs and sugar. You can now make this amazing pound cake and boast your baking skills among your friends. Now bake the world a better place!

POUND CAKE

Ingredients

1¼ cups refined flour (maida) + for dusting
1¼ cups butter + for greasing
1¼ cups castor sugar
5 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla essence
1 teaspoon baking powder
Salt to taste
2 tablespoons milk

Method

1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Grease a loaf tin with some butter and dust with some flour.
2. Cream butter using an electric beater till light. Add castor sugar and cream again till fluffy.
3. Break in eggs, gradually and whisk. Add vanilla essence and whisk again.
4. Sieve in together flour, baking powder and salt, fold with spatula. Add milk and mix well.
5. Pour the batter in the greased tin and tap. Put the tray into the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes. Remove from oven, cool and demould.
6. Slice and serve.
