Puran Poli Recipe, a popular Indian sweet bread recipe, originated from Maharashtra and Gujrat. Apparently, two different versions of Puran Poli you can expect, Gujarati puran poli recipe and Maharashtrian puran poli recipe. There is not much differences in making of puran poli recipe between this two versions of sweet flatbread recipes, other than the base Ingredient, Maharashtra puran poli made with channa dal, where as Gujarat puran poli made with toor dal.

Maharashtrian Puran Poli is a sweet bread prepared almost all special occasions in Maharashtra and across India. Served hot with a scoop of ghee spread on top of the poli, which makes this dish creamy sweet, flavorful, delicious and savor. In souther regions of India, puran poli even made with coconut stuffing. I am not sure, how many versions of puran poli available, but the perfect blend of dal, jaggery, ghee and floor makes any puran poli to be savored and finger licking delicious.

Chana dal 3/4 Cup (soaked in water overnight)
Water 1/2 Cup
Maida (Refined flour) 1 1/2 Cup
Salt
Water (To make smooth dough)
Oil
Jaggery 1/2 Cup
Sugar 1/4 Cup
Cardamom powder 1/2 Tsp
Ghee
