Rasam is very easy to make. Here is how you can make it at home without Rasam powder.Ingredients:2 large Tomatoes1/4 cup grated Coconut1/2 tsp Pepper1/4 tsp Hing6 dry Red Chillies3 cups Water1 tbsp Coriander seeds1 tbsp Urad Dal1/4 tsp Methi seeds1/4 tsp Turmeric1/4 cup Tamarind pulp1/2 tsp Mustard3 tbsp OilCurry leavesCoriander leavesSalt to tasteMethod: Heat 2 tbsp Oil and fry Methi, Hing, Urad dal, Pepper, Coriander seeds and dry Red Chillies. Then add grated Coconut, Curry leaves, Turmeric and saute well. Add chopped Tomatoes and mix well. Remove from heat, cool and grind this mixture into a fine paste. Pour this paste into a pan, add Tamarind pulp, 3 cups of water and salt and bring to boil. Cook for 5 minutes.In another pan put 1 tbsp oil and splutter Mustard. Then add dry Red Chillies, Curry leaves and Coriander leaves and saute well. Pour this tempering over the Rasam.
