MORE ABOUT THIS VIDEO

Want to experience Spanish wine? Well, one of the regions you MUST experience is Ribera del Duero. This mainly red wine region in the north of the country is second only to the Rioja wine region in fame. Like in Rioja the wines of Ribera del Duero are mainly made from Spains famous tempranillo red grape and are robust reds full of dark fruit, given the hot climate in the region.

In this video I head to famous Madrid roasting house La Posada de la Villa to taste three wines from very famous producers. Condado de Haza, from famous Pesquera winemaker Alejandro Fernandez; Dominio de Atauta and Francisco Barona - from traditional to more modern, in this video I taste the wines and help you understand what this region is all about.

And I pair it all with the most delicious roast baby lamb! Because when youre in the Ribera del Duero wine region, there are lots of asadores (roasting restaurants) that roast the most amazing meats in their wood-burning ovens. And these big, juicy meats are the classic pairing for such big, rich, bold wines.

If you want to have the same experience, check out them out when youre in Madrid. They also do delicious roast suckling pig and an amazing cocido madrileo.
