The traditional Bengali dessert, urad dal fritters soaked in sugar syrup, is an absolute delight for all!ROSH BORAIngredients1 cup Tata Sampann Organic Urad Dal2 tsps fennel seeds8-10 black peppercorns4-5 green cardamomsA pinch of salt1 cup sugarOil for deep fryingSlivered almonds for sprinklingSlivered pistachios for sprinklingMethod1. In a bowl, add Tata Sampann Organic Urad Dal and sufficient water. Soak for 1-2 hours.2. In a mortar pestle, add fennel seeds, black peppercorns, green cardamoms and coarsely grind it.3. Transfer the soaked and drained urad dal in a blender jar, add salt and a little water. Blend to a fine paste and transfer into a bowl.4. Beat well till the colour changes and the mixture becomes light.5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, meanwhile, heat add sugar and 1 cup water in another non-stick pan. Add remaining green cardamoms in it and let the sugar melt completely. Let it thicken slightly, switch the heat off.6. Add the coarsely ground spices into the prepared paste and mix well. Drop in spoonful portions of the batter into the hot oil, deep fry till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.7. Add the fried bodas in the prepared sugar syrup and gently mix. Soak for 10-15 minutes.8. Drain the bodas and place them on a serving plate. Drizzle a little sugar syrup on top of each, sprinkle slivered almonds, and slivered pistachios. 9.
