Semiya/vermicille/shavige/sevai is an easy and tasty breakfast recipe that could be prepared in no time which almost replicates the taste of biryani. Also known as shavige pulao is a popular well known breakfast prepared in South India. vermicelli have different local names in india. it is known as shavige in kannada. in hindi and punjabi it referred as seviyan or semiyan and sevalu or semiya and semiya in telugu and tamil respectively with the different names to vermicelli, this pulao is referred with different names all over India but, the taste of pulao remains the same and authentic

Following are the ingredients to make tasty and yummy semiya/vermicelli/ shavige/sevai pulao:

1 cup semiya/vermicelli/ shavige/sevai
1 onion finely chopped
3 nos green chillies cut through the middle
1 tomato finely chopped
½ tbl spoon fennel powder
3 nos cardamom
3 nos cloves
A small piece of cinnamon
Bay leaves
1 tbl spoon ginger garlic paste
5 to 6 nos garlic cloves finely chopped
6 to 7 nos cashews
Little ghee
Oil as needed
Salt as needed
Few curry leves
Few coriander leaves
Few mint leaves
¼ tbl spoon turmeric powder

Now let’s start preparing semiya/vermicelli pulao:

Step 1: Take a bowl and fill it with water and allow it to boil.
Step 2: Once the water starts boiling add the semiya/vermicelli to it.
Step 3: Set aside the vermicelli once it is half cooked and strain out water.
Step 4: Now take an empty pan and add ghee to it. Then add oil followed by turmeric powder.
Step 5: Add salt as needed. Then add the spices(cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and bay leaves) followed by fennel powder.
Step 6 : Add ginger garlic paste followed by onions and saute well until the raw smell goes off.
Step 7: Now add the green chillies followed by cashews. Then add the tomatoes and saute until it turns mushy.
Step 8: Add curry leaves, coriander leaves and mint leaves and saute well.
Step 9: Now its time to add the semiya/vermicille. Lower the flame and add the semiya/vermicille/shavige/sevai. Let this stay on stove for about 2 minutes and then its ready to be served.

Tasty and yummy semiya/vermicille/shavige/sevai is ready to be served.
