Shrikhand is a creamy sweet dish made using drained yogurt, green cardamom powder, sugar and saffron. It is usually served with puri or as can also be eaten just plain or in a meal. This is usually served in thalis in restaurants and also in Maharashtrian and Gujarati weddings.

Shrikhand can also be flavored with fruit puree like mango or strawberry. But the traditional version is made with elaichi i.e green cardamom and saffron.

However saffron can be skipped and green cardamom powder is good enough to flavor this creamy dessert.

To make shrikhand, it is good to use fresh yogurt. Homemade fresh curd or yogurt is best.

I have garnished with chopped almonds and pistas. You can also use cashews.
