FIsh pieces cooked in onion tomato masala gravy.

TAMATAR WALI MACCHI

Ingredients

4 pieces Surmai, darne
2 tablespoons oil
1 tablespoon garlic, finely chopped
1 tablespoon ginger, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
4 medium onions, finely chopped
2½ cups tomato puree
1 tablespoon red chilli paste
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon red chilli powder
1½ teaspoon turmeric powder
½ tablespoon tamarind pulp
1 tablespoon coriander, chopped
Steam rice for serving

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick deep pan. Add garlic, ginger & green chillies. Sauté till fragrant.
2. Add onions and mix well, cook till golden brown. Add tomato puree and red chilli paste, mix well. Cook till the oil separates. Add salt and mix well.
3. Add chilli powder & turmeric powder, mix well.
4. Add the fish and stir well. Cover and cook for 5-10 minutes.
5. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with rice.
