Tariwala chicken/ Murgh is very popular spice chicken gravy prepared in all punjabi household. Its a lip smacking spicy and tangy chicken prepared with many spices.

Tariwala murgh
Ingredients quantity
For marination
Chicken ½ kg
Lemon juice 1small
Red chili powder ` 2tsp
Turmeric powder ½ tsp
Ginger garlic paste 1tbsp
Salt to taste

For masala
Oil 4-5tbsp
Bay leaf 1no.
Cloves 4no.
Peppercorn 1tsp
Black cardamom 2no.
Green cardamom 2no.
Cinnamon stick 1no.
Cumin seeds 1tsp
Whole dry red chili 2no.
Onion chopped 3no.
Ginger garlic paste 1tbsp
Tomato chopped 3no.
Salt to taste
Coriander powder 1tsp
Red chili powder 1tsp
Turmeric powder 1tsp
Water as required

For gravy
Oil 2-3tbsp
Bay leaf 1no.
Cumin 1tsp
Coriander powder 2tbsp
Red chili powder 1tsp
Garam masala 1tsp
Turmeric powder ¼ tsp
Ginger powder ¼ tsp
Water as required
Ginger juliennes 1tsp
Green chilies slit 3-4no
Prepared masala
Coriander chopped 1tbsp+ for garnish


Method
1. In bowl add chicken, lemon juice, red chili powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste and salt as required, and mix it properly.
2. Now in pan add oil, bay leaf, cloves, pepper corn, crush black cardamom and green cardamom, add cinnamon stick and cumin seeds, whole dry red chilies and sauté it properly.
3. Now add chopped onions and let be turn golden in color.
4. Now add ginger garlic paste and sauté it again.
5. Now add chopped tomatoes and salt to taste and sauté till tomatoes get cooked.
6. Now add coriander powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder and sauté again.
7. Now transfer the masala in the bowl and let it cool down completely
8. Mean while, in same pan add oil, shallow fry the marinated chicken.
9. Once done remove from the pan and keep aside.
10. Now grind the masala of onion tomato by adding some water in it.
11. Now in same pan add cumin seeds, bay leaf, coriander powder, red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder, ginger powder and water as required and mix it properly.
12. Now add ginger juliennes and green chilies slit and strain the mixture of the masala in it.
13. Now cook the gravy, and add chicken it in.
14. Cook the gravy for at least 10-12 mins on medium to low flame.
15. Now add chopped coriander and mix it again.
16. Serve it in a bowl and garnish it with coriander sprig.
17. Our Tari wala mrugh is ready.
