Tomato Rasam is a traditional south Indian rice recipe. It is also called "chaaru" in Telugu. It's a perfect combination to had with rice. It's a compulsory item in any south Indian meals or thali. Heat 3 tbsp oil in a saucepan. Add 1/2 tsp bengal gram, 1/2 tsp black gram, 1/4 tsp mustard seeds and saute for a while.2. Add few fresh curry leaves, 1 medium onion chopped, 2 tomatoes chopped, 2 green chili peppers and saute for a while.3. Add 1/4 tsp ginger garlic paste, 2 tsp salt and cook it until tomato pieces get cooked on medium flame.4. Now add 1 liter water, 1 tsp rasam powder, small lemon sized tamarind, 1/4 tsp turmeric and boil it for 5 minutes on medium flame.5. Garnish with few fresh coriander leaves. Your delicious tomato soup for rice is ready to serve.NOTE: Adjust the salt according to your taste.
