Daal Chana Palak

Ingredients for Boiled Daal:
Water as required
Daal chana (split chickpeas) 2 cups
Turmeric powder 1 tsp

Ingredients for Daal Chana Palak:
Oil 1/4 cup
Cumin seeds 1 tbsp
Onion (chopped) 1 cup
Ginger garlic paste 1 tbsp
Tomato puree 1 cup
Red chili powder 1 tbsp
Coriander powder 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Red chili flakes 1 tbsp
Salt 1 tsp
Boiled daal chana (split chickpeas)
Reserved lentil water 1 cup
Spinach (palak) 2 cups
Green chilies (sliced) as required
Green coriander (chopped) as required

Directions for Boiled Daal Preparation:
1. In a pot heat water and add daal chana and turmeric powder. Boil until 90% done. Reserve 1 cup of lentil water for later use.
Directions for Daal Chana Palak Preparation:
2. In a pot heat oil and add cumin seeds and sizzle for a minute.
3. Add onion and cook until translucent. Add ginger garlic paste and cook for a minute.
4. Add tomato puree and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chili flakes, salt and mix it well.
5. Add boiled daal chana and reserved lentil water.
6. Add spinach and cook for 5-10 minutes.
7. Now cover and cook for 10-15 mins.
8. Dish it out and garnish it with green chilies and green coriander. Your Daal Chana Palak is ready to serve.
