Faux pulled pork made with canned young, green jackfruit is a great vegetarian option for anyone missing a nice meaty meal. BBQ jackfruit will deliver the taste and texture of your favorite BBQ pork. This jackfruit recipe is basically a BBQ sauce delivery system. Young, green jackfruit makes a great meat substitute that works well as a substitute for either pork OR chicken. Jackfruit is a plant, but even when cooked it retains a texture that can pass for meat, especially when used in this BBQ jackfruit dish. Canned jackfruit is easy to use, its inexpensive, and a very versatile ingredient. Unripe jackfruit adds a nice texture when pulled apart, and its neutral flavor makes it ideal for many recipes, including faux pulled pork BBQ, meatless tacos, breakfast hash, and I've even used it as a substitution for chicken in a vegetarian version of chicken tikka masala.A printable copy of this jackfruit recipe can be found at http://www.myfoodchannel.com/jackfruit-pulled-pork/Give this faux pulled pork jackfruit recipe a try and let me know what you think, and for morerecipes check out the Chef Buck playlist: http://www.youtube.com/user/FromUnderTheRockand to print all recipes visit my website at http://www.myfoodchannel.com/Connect with this media to catch all of my videos...thanks:MY OTHER YOUTUBE CHANNEL: http://www.youtube.com/user/buckredbuckFACEBOOK http://www.facebook.com/buckredbuckTWITTER https://twitter.com/buckredbuckINSTAGRAMhttps://www.instagram.com/buckredbuck/GOOGLE+ http://plus.google.com/u/0/109193261972985167770/postsPRINT RECIPES AT MY WEBSITE: http://www.myfoodchannel.com/RECIPE PLAYLISTS: http://www.youtube.com/user/FromUnderTheRockIngredients for Jackfruit "pulled pork" BBQ1 20oz can young, green JACKFRUIT1 medium ONION2-4 cloves GARLICyour favorite BBQ SAUCE1 tsp CUMIN POWDER tsp CHILI POWDER some SALT and PEPPEROIL for sauteingHow to Make Vegetarian Pulled Pork BBQ with Jackfruit Rinse and drain the young, green jackfruit. This giant tropical fruit grows ontrees and is very popular in Asia. Unripe, jackfruit can be treated like a starch, cooked and used in savory dishes. Ripened jackfruit can be eaten raw and is very juicy and sweet; quite a combo. Buying and cleaning a fresh jackfruit is quite an endevour. For me, canned jackfruit is a perfect ingredient. I prefer unripe, young, green jackfruit and find it to be a terrific ingredient to experiment with in a variety of recipes. The texture of unripe jackfruit makes it a fantastic faux meat, and the mildness of its flavor allows it to be incredibly versatile. I've used it as a meatless pulled pork BBQ, as a faux meat filling in tacos, in an Indian-style variation of Jackfruit Tikka Masala, and as a potato hash for breakfast. Its super nutritious, readily available at Asian markets, and well worth giving a try.For more jackfruit dishes, take a look at a playlist of my favorite Canned Jackfruit RecipesThanks for checking the video and BBQ jackfruit recipe out.
