Zunka or Jhunka is a vegetarian traditional Indian Village dish prepared in Maharashtra, served with Bhakri, Jaggery, Green Chilli Thecha (chutney) & onions. Very famous at Sinhgad Fort near to Pune.
It is essentially a chickpea flour porridge. It is also known by the name of pithla or pithle. Its ingredients are gram flour (besan), mixed with water to form a semi-solid paste. It is then sauteed in oil with any other assorted ingredients like green chillies, red chilly powder, turmeric, salt, fried onions, Spring onions, ginger-garlic, cumin seeds, coriander leaves and served with traditionally with Jawar Bhakri or roti. The dish is also referred to as jhunka bhakar or pithla bhakri. It is accompanied by thecha.

Zunka Bhakri Ingredients:
Chickpea flour( Besan) 1/2 Cup
Salt 1/2 Tsp
Turmeric powder (Haldi) 1/4 Tsp
Roasted green chili and garlic paste 1Tbsp
Oil 2 Tbsp
Curry leaves 5 to 6
Cumin seeds (Jeera) 1/2 Tsp
Green chili 1
Onion 1/2Cup
Salt 1/4 Tsp
Spring onion 2 to 2 Tbsp
Carom seeds (Ajwain) 1/4 Tsp
Roasted Jeera Powder 1/2 Tsp
Fried peanuts 1 Tbsp
Spring Onion 1 Tbsp
Fresh Coriander 2 Tbsp
Water for Zunka 1 cup

Jawar Bhakri
Jawar atta 3/4 Cup
Rice flour 1/4 Cup
Salt 1/4 Tsp
Water for Bhakri 1/2 Cup
