$100 Hawker Food Challenge! EATING THE ENTIRE CHOMP CHOMP FOOD CENTRE!? Singapore Hawker Tour!

For this video, we ate the ENTIRE CHOMP CHOMP FOOD CENTRE! This $100 Hawker Food Challenge was filmed partially with a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, which made selfie-style filming so much easier. Link below for the design contest where you can win your very own Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3!

Joining me was Megan (@meggychiaaaa), an actress and Tiktoker that also has a keen passion for food. She recommended Chomp Chomp Food Centre and offered to show us around for a challenge. Chomp Chomp is well-known for being a supper spot as most stalls open right around dinner and close near 1am.

With $100, we filled the entirety of the table with a massive hawker feast. Megan was a great aid in showing us the coveted stalls and ordered with expertise. The standout food would be the Sambal Stingray, the Hokkien Mee and the first Satay.

The Stingray was boneless, tender and had a good char to it. It also balanced the spice level, not being overpowering, while the accompanying chinchalok helped cut through the spice with its acidity. Next, the Hokkien Mee was surprisingly bland on its on, but when mixed with the accompanying sambal, it became an umami sensation. A warning though, the sambal was very potent, likely intentionally so to liven up the relatively bland base. Lastly, the Satay was moist and came off the stick easily. The unique peanut sauce came with mashed pineapple which added a pleasant sweet-tanginess to the mix.

Due to Covid-19 and a recent renovation, a considerable portion of the food centre was shuttered. The stall next to our table was noticeably thoroughly gutted. We missed out on 2 Michelin Plate stalls at Chomp Chomp, the Carrot Cake and another Hokkien Mee along with a bunch of other recommended stalls. Even so, Chomp Chomp still offered some excellent and affordable food. The hawkers were eager and grateful for our support, like the affable Wanton Mee auntie. Do head down there for your supper fix!
