This Old Tom Gin cocktail recipe is from William Schmidt's (the Only William) 1892 cocktail book called "The Flowing Bowl". William was in his time a 'celebrity bartender' who wrote at least two books on cocktails and alcohol. He was chief bartender at several saloons in Chicago and New York, before opening his own place. This is chartreuse cocktail is a classic cocktail recipe and a great way to find your way behind the bar, try out some cocktail chemistry on your way to becoming an educated barfly as you learn how to drink.

Club Cocktail:
Half a glassful of ice
2 dashes of gum syrup (https://youtu.be/Y10z7DOU3c0 )
⅔ of Old Tom gin
1/3 of vino vermouth (Italian vermouth)
2 dashes of orange bitters
1 dash of green chartreuse
Stir well, strain, and serve.
