$200 FULL ZI CHAR MENU CHALLENGE! Taste of Thailand Singapore Singapore Street Food

For this video, we headed down to Taste of Thailand at Midview City to destroy a $200 Chinese-Thai Tze Char Restaurant Challenge! Taste of Thailand (@tasteofthailand_midview) is a family-owned restaurant that offers up fusion Chinese and Thai food. They have been around for over 30 years with a legion of loyal customers, which is a testament to the quality of their food. Having watched their father and daughter interview on SethLui, where they highlighted their plight of coping as an independent restaurant operator during Covid-19, we decided to give their place a visit. The familys daughter, Eunice (@euniceeang), kindly hosted us.

Here is what we got all prices for medium portions:
Pineapple Fried Rice - $10
Fried Tang Hoon (Stir-fried Vermicelli) - $10
Lao Po Soup (My Wifes Soup) - $78
Thai Deep-fried Fish Delight - $24
Deep-fried Cuttlefish - $15
Chicken with Honey Sauce - $15
Basil Pork - $15
Fried Crispy Pork with Garlic - $15
Kang Kong with Belachan - $12
Hot Plate Beancurd - $13
Prawn Omelette - $13
Giant Bowl of Rice N.A.

The dish that really caught my eye was the Lao Po Soup, with is a massive pot of rich soup filled with various large chunks of seafood and a crab. It was rich and creamy and not overly spicy. While looking like a Red Tom Yum Soup, it was toned down slightly to a more Chinese-style soup. The Thai Deep-fried Fish also blew me away, coming with a whole gutted grouper that is expertly deep-fried. It was moist, flaky and went well with the given chilli sauce.

Taste of Thailand is extremely generous with their portions and it showed, as I was unable to complete this challenge. However, this makes it an excellent family/group dining experience. With large portions, reasonable pricing and care gone into the crafting of the food, you would be hard-pressed to find a better alternative. One unfortunate fact would be that Midview City is rather out of the way, previously located between 2 MRT stations. Thankfully, with the new Thomson line, it should now be easier to get there and will be well worth the travel to feast there with your friends and family!
