$7.90 All You Can Eat Prata Buffet DESTROYED! 90 Minutes Unlimited CRISPY Prata Eating Challenge!

For this episode, we headed down to Casuarina Curry at McPherson Road to destroy an All You Can Eat Prata Buffet! From 27th September to 1st October, Casuarina Curry offered an All You Can Eat Prata Buffet for only $7.90 per person. Upon hearing this, we immediately popped over to turn this buffet into a Prata Eating Challenge. With a generous 90-minute time limit and their entire prata menu to choose from, it almost sounded too good to be true. For reference, a Double Egg Cheese Prata costs $5.60 and an Egg Cheese Sausage Prata costs $6.

Roti Prata is an Indian-influenced Southeast Asian dish. At its simplest, it is fried flatbread served with a side of curry - the dough layered with fat similar to a Western biscuit. Usually, it is filled with savoury or sweet toppings, such as eggs and onions or bananas and syrup for a more complete dish. Creative modern chefs have come up with all manners of Roti Prata, including Roti Tissue, an extremely thin prata shaped into a cone, and Roti Bomb, a smaller but thicker, and in turn flakier, prata.

Initially, I expected to plough through at least 40 pieces, but I was taken aback by the size of their pratas. They were truly massive. As long as you ordered one with a filling, like egg, the prata would cover the length of your forearm. The pratas were on the thinner and crispier side with the thicker middle segment having a bit of a chew. Their curries were nothing to shout home about both the chicken and fish curries were rather bland and could have used stronger kick of chilli.

For the choice of fillings, I would say that is entirely up to personal preference. If you like it simple, you would not go wrong with an Egg, Cheese or Kosong (Plain) prata. If you like it stuffed, their signature prata is the Egg Mushroom and Cheese Prata, filled with good amounts of the stated toppings.

In the end, I sampled 8 types of Roti Prata, completing 24 pratas in total. It was quite a struggle towards the end. Although they were made thin and crispy, they were still surprisingly dense. For $7.90 and with 90-minutes, simply eating 2 of their more filled pratas would recoup your money. However, the buffet period has already ended. I would still encourage you guys to head over to try their pratas as they are excellently prepared while still affordable ala carte. If you want a new prata joint, look no further than Casuarina Curry!
