AAGRI CHICKEN

Ingredients

750 grams chicken, cut into 2 inch pieces on the bone
½ cup sliced dried coconut, roasted
¼ cup garlic cloves
7-8 green chillies
½ cup fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
¼ cup oil
10-12 black peppercorns
5-6 cloves
2 large onions, chopped
Salt to taste
1 large tomato, chopped
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala powder
½ tsp cumin powder
2 tbsps aagri masala
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves + for garnish
Chapatti or bhakri to serve

Method

1. Put coconut in a mixer jar, add garlic, green chillies and coriander and grind to a coarse paste. Add ¼ cup water and grind to a fine paste.
2. Take chicken in a large bowl, add the ground paste, squeeze the juice of the lemon and mix well. Set aside to marinate for 2-3 hours.
3. Heat oil in a kadai. Add black peppercorns and cloves and sauté for a few seconds. Add onions, mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
4. Add salt, mix and cook till the onions turn golden brown. Add tomato, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.
5. Add turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and cumin powder and mix well. Add aagri masala and mix well. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
6. Add ½ cup water, mix and cook for 1-2 minutes. Add marinated chicken and sauté on high heat for 3-4 minutes.
7. Add ¼ cup water, mix, cover and cook for 8-10 minutes. Adjust salt and add coriander leaves and mix well.
8. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with chapatti or bhakri.
