We start with döner kebab, the king of Istanbul street food. Next up we head into the laneways of the old town and eat köfte (meatballs)- this place has been around since 1960 and the atmosphere is half the pleasure as you're surrounded by the buzz of the city as you eat on the street. Onwards to one of the city's quirkiest phenomena- a gazoz shop. Gazoz are Turkish soft drinks. There has been a revival of these nostalgic drinks which date back to the early 1900s when most towns and cities had their own local gazoz. We sample a few flavoured gazoz before heading for another sweet treat called bici bici. Bici bici is from the southern city of Adana where it's a popular street food in the summertime. Finally we head for one of our favourite Turkish street foods- kelle söğüş or cold boiled sheep's head. Muammer Usta has been serving this dish for over 40 years from his small street card. Sliced sheep's head, onions, parsley and chilli makes for a delicious snack. A must eat! We hope you enjoyed this Istanbul street food tour!
