Banana Podimas (Raw Plantain Bhartha) | Valakkai Podimas Recipe | Vrat ka Khana | India Food Network

Preetha Srinivasan shows how to use raw bananas or plantains in this very healthy and easy to make dish.It also delicious when served as a side dish with rasam and sambhar rice. Try it out at home and let us know what you think!

Ingredients:
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp chana dal
1/2 tsp urad dal
Curry leaves -few
1 tsp each of chopped ginger and green chillies
Pinch of turmeric powder
Salt to taste
A pinch asafoetida (hing)
2 to 3 raw banana plantain, steamed
1 tsp lime juice
1/4 cup grated coconut
Coriander leaves

Method:
Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. Once it crackles, add chana dal, urad dal, curry leaves, green chillies, ginger and sauté for few seconds, till dals are cooked.
Add raw banana , turmeric, hing, salt and cook on medium flame for a minute or two.
Add lime juice and coconut, mix well and serve.
