Thin slices of Potato dipped in gram flour batter and deep fried, an ideal snack on a rainy day.BATATA BHAJIIngredients3 medium potatoes (batata), peeled1½ cups gram flour (besan)Oil for deep-frying½ teaspoon turmeric powderSalt to taste 1 teaspoon red chilli powder1 teaspoon carom seeds½ teaspoon baking soda Chaat masala for sprinklingDate-tamarind chutney for servingRed chilli-garlic chutney for servingMethod1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. 2. Put gram flour in a bowl. Add turmeric powder, salt, chilli powder and carom seeds and mix. Add some water and mix to make a semi-thick batter. 3. Take some water in a bowl and thinly slice the potatoes using a mandolin slicer in it. 4. Add baking soda to the batter and mix well. 5. Drain and dip each potato slice in the batter, put in hot oil directly and deep-fry till golden brown and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.6.
