BATATA BHAJIYAIngredients2 medium potatoes, unpeeled1½ cups gram flour (besan)½ tsp red chilli powder½ tsp turmeric powder¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)Salt to tasteOil for deep fryingDate and tamarind chutney to serveGreen chutney to serveChaat masala to sprinkleMethod1. Take gram flour in a large bowl, add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, salt and sufficient water. Whisk to form a semi-thick batter of coating consistency. Add a pinch of baking soda and mix well.2. Slice the potatoes using a slicer directly into the batter.3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai, coat each slice of the potatoes with the batter and drop into the hot oil. Deep fry till golden and crisp. Drain on an absorbent paper.4. Transfer on to a serving plate and sprinkle chaat masala on top.
