Batata cha Kachrya | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Popular maharashtrian recipe of thinly sliced potatoes tempered and cooked with mild spices.

BATATA CHA KACHRYA

Ingredients

3-4 medium potatoes (batata), peeled
1 tablespoon oil
2 green chillies
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
A pinch asafoetida
½ teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste

Method

1. Heat oil in a non-stick pan.
2. Slit and chop green chillies. Slice potatoes.
3. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida and chopped green chillies and sauté for 30 seconds.
4. Add sliced potatoes, turmeric powder and salt and toss to mix. Add some water, cover and cook till potatoes are done.
5. Serve hot.

Preparation time: 5-7 minutes
Cooking Time: 15-18 minutes
