BEANS PARUPPU USILIIngredients250 grams French beans, chopped½ cup Bengal gram (chana dal), soaked for 3-4 hours and drained¼ cup split pigeon peas (toor dal), soaked for 3-4 hours and drained4-5 dried red chillies, soaked for 1 hour and drained½ tsp turmeric powderSalt to taste½ tsp asafoetida (hing)3 tbsps oil1 tsp mustard seeds10-12 curry leavesMethod1. Heat a non-stick pan, add beans, ¼ cup water, turmeric powder, and salt and mix well.2. Meanwhile, put the soaked Bengal gram in a mixer jar. Add soaked pigeon peas, soaked red chillies, asafoetida and salt and blend to a coarse paste. (Do not use water)3. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Add curry leaves and sauté well.4. Add the blended paste, mix and cook for 6-7 minutes while stirring continuously.5. Add the cooked beans, and mix well. Cook for 1 minute. 6. Switch the heat off and cover the pan with a lid to avoid the mixture from turning dry.7.
