Borsh is a traditional Russian soup prepared from beets and cabbage. It is usually served with a spoon of sour cream. There are over 40 varieties of hot and cold borsh that use different combinations of vegetables and meats. This is my grandmother's recipe, which is also, arguably, the best one

Ingredients:
VEGETABLE STOCK 5 CUPS
BEET ROOT 1 BIG CUP
POTATOES 1 CUP
ONIONS 1 CUP
GARLIC 1 TBSP
CARROT 1 CUP
CELERY 1 CUP
CABBAGE 1 C
TOMATOES 1 C
TOMATO PUREES ½ C
GARLIC CHOPPED 1 TBSP
SALT TO TASTE
SUGAR ½ TSP
PEPPER POWDER 1TSP
DILL 1TBSP
LEMON ½ PIECE
RED WINE VENIGAR 1 TBSP
BUTTER 3 CUBS
MAIDA 1 C
CARAWAYSEEDS 1 TSP
EGG 1 N
MILK ½ CUP
BAKING POWDER PINCH

METHOD

Put a vessel on the stove heat it and add some chopped onions and garlic paste, add butter. Once the butter is melting add chopped celery, chopped carrots, chopped tomatoes, tomato puree, cubes of potatoes and add full cup of bee root then add vegetable stock,
Once its comes to boil. Add salt and sugar, cup of cabbage, pepper powder, dill leaves and red wine vinegar.

DUMPLING

Take one egg add ½ cup milk, pinch of salt, caraway seeds, add Maida mixed with baking powder make a paste.
Take the paste in a spoon and drop the dumpling in the soup. Once the soup is ready transfer in to another bowl.
