The all-time favourite snack in an even better avatar. Crispy bread pakodas topped with chaat condiments and served!

BREAD PAKODA CHAAT

Ingredients

6 bread slices
1½ cups gram flour
Salt to taste
¼ tsp red chilli powder + to sprinkle
¼ tsp turmeric powder
2 green chillies, chopped
¼ tsp carom seeds (ajwain)
A pinch of baking soda
1 medium onion, chopped + for garnish
2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander
Oil for deep frying
Sweetened yogurt to drizzle
Date and tamarind chutney to drizzle
Green chutney to drizzle
Cumin powder to sprinkle
Chaat masala to sprinkle
Fresh pomegranate pearls as required
Masala peanuts as required
Nylon sev as required
Chopped fresh coriander for garnish

Method

1. Take gram flour in a bowl. Add salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, green chillies, carom seeds, baking soda and onion.
2. Add ¾ cup water and mix well. Add coriander and mix well.
3. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai. Dip bread slices in the prepared batter and deep fry till golden brown and crisp.
4. Drain on absorbent paper and set aside. Cut into small pieces and transfer in serving plate.
5. Drizzle sweetened yogurt, date and tamarind chutney and green chutney on top. Sprinkle remaining onion, red chilli powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, pomegranate pearls, masala peanuts and nylon sev on top.
6. Sprinkle coriander and serve.
