Chawal Aur Moong Dal Ke Pakode | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Delicious and crispy rice and mung bean fried fritters! These are the ideal rainy day snack and go well with any dip.

CHAWAL AUR MOONG DAL KE PAKODE

Ingredients

¼ cup leftover cooked rice (chawal)
½ cup split skinless green gram (moong dal), soaked for 5-6 hours
Oil for deep-frying
1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
Salt to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh coriander leaves
Crushed black peppercorns to taste
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 tablespoon rice flour
1 teaspoon baking soda

Method

1. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai.
2. Grind together green gram, green chillies and salt to make a coarse paste. Transfer in a bowl and add rice, chopped coriander, crushed peppercorns and onion and mix well. Add rice flour and baking soda and mix well.
3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into pakoras.
4. Deep-fry each pakora in hot oil till golden and crisp. Drain on absorbent paper.
5. Serve hot.

Preparation Time: 5-6 hours
Cooking Time: 8-10 minutes
