Ingredients
Green Christmas Tree Cake
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cup sugar
½ cup sour cream
4 large eggs
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
3-4 drops green food coloring
Vanilla Christmas Confetti Cake
2 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon kosher salt
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cup sugar
½ cup sour cream
4 large eggs
4 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 tablespoons Christmas confetti
3 cups buttercream frosting
1 cup of Christmas sprinkles
Steps
Green Christmas Tree Cake
Heat oven to 325 degrees F. In a large bowl whisk together, flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, beat together butter and sugar, until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes. Add the sour cream and beat until incorporated. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time. Add in vanilla extract and beat until combined. Add flour mixture all at once and beat on low until just combined. Add food coloring and fold until just combined.
Scrape batter into prepared 9x5x3 pan loaf pan and smooth out top. Bake for 60 to 65 minutes. Remove from oven and transfer to wire rack to cool completely.
Remove cake and slice loaf into 1/2 inch pieces. Using a Christmas tree cookie cutter, stamp out trees. Stack one cut-out tree on top of another to form a large log shape. Carefully wrap with plastic wrap and transfer to the refrigerator to chill (this will make it easier to handle).
