This is a quintessentially South Indian dish which features regularly in the lunch platter.A part from being very nutritious and filling this enhances the taste of vegetables. The usual gravy or accompaniment for this dish is the Mor kootan/mor kuzhambu and together they make a classic lunch combination.

Ingredients
Channa dal 1 cup
Curry leaves 8 n
Red chilly 5 n
Oil 2 tb
Mustard seeds 1 ts
Onion chopped 2 n
Cluster beans, 250 g
Slat
Turmeric
Green chilly 3 n

Method:
1. First soak the channa dal, red chilly, curry leaves in water for 2 hours, and grind them in coarse paste.
2. Heat oil in a pressure pan add mustard seeds, chopped onions, curry leaves, hing, turmeric, sauté it and add green chilly, cluster beans, salt, and some water cook for few minutes, and then add daal put the lid on cook without a whistle in a slow flame,
3. Switch off the flame, serve this with rice, chapatti.
