Coconut Milk By Preetha || Dakshin Curry | India Food Network

Preetha shows you a technique of making coconut milk at home. Now you don't have to step out to buy it you can custom make it to you liking.

Method:

1 coconut, cut into small pieces or grated (brown outer skin removed)

2.5 cups luke warm water

Combine coconut and 1/2 cup water and grind well. You may add some more water and grind again. (around 1/4 cup).

Place muslin cloth over a container and add this ground mixture. Squeeze well. You will get around 1/2 cup milk. This is THICK coconut milk.

Now take the same ground coconut and combine with 1.5 cups water in batches and grind well. Add remaining water, if any and blend again.

Strain this mixture like before in separate container. You will get around 1.5 cup milk. This is THIN coconut milk.

The remaining coconut residue can be used in cookies or as a base for curries/ paste etc.
