Chaat (Hindi: चाट, Nepali: चाट, Odia: ଚାଟ୍, Bengali: চাট, Urdu: چاٹ‎) is a savory snack that originated in India, typically served as an hors d'oeuvre at roadside tracks from stalls or food carts across the Indian subcontinent in India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.With its origins in Uttar Pradesh, India, chaat has become immensely popular in the rest of the Indian subcontinent. The word derives from Hindi cāṭ चाट (tasting, a delicacy), from cāṭnā चाटना (to lick), from Prakrit caṭṭei चट्टेइ (to devour with relish, eat noisily).”

/Mungphali Muttor Chaat/Groundnuts Green Peas Salad
Ingredients:
Roasted Groundnuts - 2 cups
Green peas - 1 cup
Carrots - 1
Cabbage - 1 small portion of a medium size
Cucumber - 1 medium
Onions - 1 medium
Tomatoes - 3 medium
Green chillies - 3
Coriander leaves - 1 medium bunch
Chaat masala - to taste
Lemon juice - to taste
Green chutney to taste
Tamarind chutney - to taste
Ingredients for green chutney
Green capsicum - 1 medium
Coriander leaves - 3 bunches
Mint leaves/podina - 1 medium bunch
Green chillies - 6
Ginger - 1 inch
Lemon juice - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Method for the green chutney:
Grind all the above ingredients into a fine paste adjusting with some water
Ingredients for Tamarind chutney:
Tamarind pulp - 1 orange size
Jaggery - ¼ Kg
Salt - a pinch
Method to make the tamarind chutney :
Pressure cook all the above - 3 whistles
Grind everything to a pulp adding some water
Method to make the Groundnuts Green Peas Salad/Mungphali Muttor Chaat
Blanch the green peas
Grate the carrot
Chop the cabbage finely and wash in boiling hot water
Chop the tomatoes, cucumber,green chillies and coriander leaves finely
In a big bowl, add the roasted Groundnuts, the blanched green peas, all the chopped vegetables
Toss and mix well
Add the green chutney and tamarind chutney and morning x well together
Add lemon juice and Chaat masala
Mix well
Enjoy the healthy Chaat/Salad
