A flavourful dal recipe which is generally served at restaurants and is super comforting for all.DAL MIZAZIngredients¾ cup skinless split green gram (dhuli moong dal), soaked for 3 hours and drained¼ cup split pigeon peas (toor dal), soaked for 3 hours and drained½ tsp turmeric powder¼ tsp asafoetida (hing)2 tbsps butter1 tbsp oil1 tsp cumin seeds1 tbsp chopped garlic½ inch ginger, cut into thin strips1 medium onion, finely chopped1 medium tomato, finely choppedSal to taste½ tsp red chilli powder2 tsps coriander powder½ tsp cumin powder½ tsp garam masala powder2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves2 tbsps chopped fresh mint leaves1 tsp lemon juiceFresh mint sprig for garnishMethod1. Combine the skinless split green gram, split pigeon peas, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, asafoetida and 3½ cups water in a pressure cooker. Cover and cook under pressure for 3-4 whistles.2. Heat butter and oil in anon-stick deep pan, add cumin seeds and let the colour change. Add garlic and ginger and sauté for 1 minute. Add onion, mix and cook till it turns golden brown.3. Add tomato and salt, mix and cook till the it turns soft and pulpy. Add red chilli powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and remaining turmeric powder and sauté for 1 minute.4. Add the cooked gram mixture and mix well. Add 1 cup water, mix and cook till the mixture comes to a boil.5. Add garam masala powder, coriander leaves and mint leaves and mix well.
