Dal with Drumsticks | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Drumstick pieces cooked with dal to make this wholesome recipe. Goes perfect with steamed rice.

DAL WITH DRUMSTICKS

Ingredients

2 cups split pigeon peas (toor dal), pressure cooked with turmeric powder
2-3 drumsticks, scraped and cut into 2 inch pieces
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 teaspoon chopped green chillies
2-3 tablespoons chopped fresh coriander leaves
Salt to taste
A pinch asafoetida
½ teaspoon tamarind pulp
½ cup fresh scraped coconut

Method

1. Heat cooked pigeon peas in a non-stick pan. Add drumstick, onion, green chillies and chopped coriander and mix well. Add some water, mix and bring to boil. Cover and cook on low heat for 6-7 minutes.
2. Add salt, asafoetida and tamarind pulp, mix and cook till drumsticks are fully done.
3. Add coconut and mix well.
4. Serve hot.

Preparation Time: 5-8 minutes
Cooking Time: 10-12 minutes
