Dance of Love at a 4-decade-old Wah Kueh & Chwee Kueh stall Gems Harvest () Singapore Hawkers

Inheriting from his parents who started selling Chwee Kueh since 1978, Mr Sam Lee continues the 40-year-old legacy of offering the all-time breakfast snacks. The 3 items on the menu are Wah Kueh (), Chwee Kueh () & Glutinous Rice (), that have accompanied many adults through their childhood.

Both types of kueh are made with rice flour. Slightly different from Chwee Kueh, Wah Kueh or bowl rice is shaped like a big pudding, with dried shrimp, mushroom and mince meat, and doused with special soy sauce and garlic.

While preparing the kueh, Sam has to stand and bent over all day. To avoid back pain, while pouring rice milk over each metal cup, he has to constantly make small movements as if performing the 'dance of love' - with his pouring can. Try catch Sam dancing if you drop by the stall!
