Date Chocolate | Sanjeev Kapoor Khazana

Ground dates stuffed with ground nuts and desiccated coconut mixture coated with melted chocolate.

DATE CHOCOLATE

Ingredients

1½ cups dates
1 cup chopped dark chocolate
½ cup chopped white chocolate
¼ cup almonds
¼ cup cashewnuts
¼ cup pistachios
½ cup desiccated coconut
2 tablespoons sugar

Method

1. Heat a non-stick pan and add almonds, cashewnuts and pistachios and lightly toast them. Remove from heat and cool.
2. Coarsely grind the dates.
3. Heat another pan and add desiccated coconut, sugar and lightly roast.
4. Coarsely grind the toasted nuts into a powder.
5. Sprinkle little water on desiccated coconut mixture and sauté till the mixture turns light brown.
6. Divide the ground dates into equal portions. Flatten them and stuff some portions with a spoonful of ground nuts and some portions with the desiccated coconut mixture. Shape some into balls and others into bars. Reserve some ground nuts for decoration.
7. Melt the dark chocolate and white chocolate separately.
8. Coat the date balls and bars with dark chocolate.
9. Decorate the chocolate date balls and bars with white chocolate and nuts. Refrigerate for 10-15 minutes.
10. Serve.
