From Liquor Store To Fine Dining Restaurant | Family Food | Munchies

Heena and Paresh Patel run one of San Francisco’s most exciting restaurants – Besharam, a Gujarati Indian fine dining establishment. The name Besharam means “shameless”, a trait that the family has used to great benefit in their journey. Moving from London to California in the 1990’s, they worked for over 20 years running a liquor store/flower shop, before finally earning a chance to run their dream restaurant, all the while raising two successful children and maintaining the family. Today they’re proudly shameless, serving an exclusively vegetarian menu that’s exciting and delicious.
