A simple sabzi which is common in Maharashtrian households, prepared with cluster beans and potatoes.

GAVARICHI BHAJI

Ingredients

300 grams cluster beans (gavar), broken into pieces
2 tbsps oil
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 tsp chopped ginger
2 medium onions, chopped
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp cumin powder
2 tsps coriander powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into ½ inch pieces
Salt to taste
3 tbsps tilkut masala

Method

1. Heat oil in a nonstick pan. Add cumin seeds and once they start to change the colour, add garlic, ginger and sauté for 30 seconds.
2. Add onions and sauté till translucent.
3. Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and mix well.
4. Add cluster beans and mix well. Add potatoes and mix well.
5. Add salt and mix. Add ½ cup water, cover and cook for 8-10 minutes.
6. Add tilkut masala and mix well.
7. Serve hot.
