Mr Tan first set up his Bak Kut Teh business in 1977 at Tai Seng, Paya Lebar and in 1981, shifted to a coffeeshop near Eunos MRT. Having been in the business for 45 years, Mr Tan opened a new stall in Oct 2021 at ABC Brickworks Food Centre, with a slight twist to the menu. During the day, he sells Kway Chap and in the evening, steamed fish are offered. Bak Kut Teh is offered throughout the day.Customers can choose to have steamed pomfret and grouper, which are bought fresh from the market daily. Wanting to make the dish available to more people, Mr Tan keeps the price affordable. Over here, you can order Teochew peppery style Bak Kut Teh, braised tender pork trotters and pickled salted vegetables. Another popular dish is steamed baby sotong, which when mixed with homemade chilli sauce, very refreshing!Watch the video for a glimpse into the cooking of Bak Kut Teh and steamed fish by the stallowners!
