This is a popular recipe from the Maharashtrian cuisine prepared with a super flavourful masala and fresh green peas.GREEN PEAS USSALIngredients2 cups fresh green peas, shelled2 tbsps oil1 tsp mustard seeds1 tsp cumin seeds2 medium onions, finely choppedSalt to taste½ tsp turmeric powder1½ tsps goda masala2 tbsps chopped fresh coriander leaves½ lemonGreen paste1 cup fresh coriander leaves1 inch ginger, roughly chopped10-12 garlic cloves3-4 green chillies½ cup scraped fresh coconutTo servePavsChopped onion as requiredLemon wedges as requiredMethod1. To make the green paste, put coriander leaves, ginger, garlic, green chillies, coconut, and ½ cup water in a mixer jar and grind to a fine paste. 2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and sauté for a few seconds. 3. Add onions and salt and sauté till golden brown. Add the green paste, mix and cook for 2-3 minutes.4. Add green peas and mix well. Sprinkle the turmeric powder and goda masala and mix. Cook for 1-2 minutes.5. Stir in 2 cups water and cook till it comes to a boil. Cover with a lid and cook under pressure till 3-4 whistles are released.6. Open the cooker once the pressure has reduced completely. Add coriander leaves and squeeze the juice of lemon and mix well. 7. Serve hot with pavs, onion and lemon wedges.
