Of all the things we do during the Jewish High Holidays, Tashlich might be my favorite!Tashlich is a ritual we perform in the Jewish New Year following Rosh Hashanah morning services (or technically can be performed until Sukkot). It's a way of symbolically casting off our sins (in the form of bread crusts or crumbs) by throwing them into moving water such as a stream, river or the ocean. Now that I'm familiar with the tradition, it's one that we look forward to every year with our children. It is both a vivid explanation of our repentance and "self-work" during the high holidays as well as a chance to bond with our Jewish community in the outdoors on what is usually a beautiful California day._________________________________For more High Holidays ideas: CELEBRATING ROSH HASHANAH 2020 (5781): https://youtu.be/Bj6UK35VVjYFor my Rosh Hashanah and High Holidays Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVI-bNDxSxI1iVcPUvujEeSaTsMW74W_N________________________________*Sign Up* To Receive FREE Jewish Children's Books from PJ LIBRARY: http://bit.ly/39d04osWhat is tashlich?
