How to make keerai thandu kootu | Nutritious, iron rich vegetarian food | Madras Curry Channel

This video explains how to make keerai thandu kootu (vegetable side dish) with fibre rich mulai keerai (Amaranth stem) thandu and protein rich grams. This is a iron rich and nutritious vegetarian food from South Indian cuisine. This is a simple kootu recipe which does not take more than 15-20min to cook. Serves 3-4 people.

Ingredients:
1. Bengal gram - 1/4 cup
2. Split yellow gram - 1/4 cup
3. Mulaikeerai thandu (Amaranth stem) - from one bunch of the greens/keerai
4. Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
5. Onion. -1
6. Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
7. Salt - to taste
8. Water 3/4 cup

For tempering:
9. Mustard seeds. -1/4 tsp
10. Curry leaves - 1 or 2 sprigs
11. Black gram - 1/4 tsp
12. Dry red chillies - 2
13. Coriander - to garnish
